Musician Interviewed - Charlie Felix (vocal) |
I greet you here from Brazil and thank you for the opportunity to talk to you! I would like you to introduce yourselves to the Brazilian public and talk about how Pressive came about.
Pressive is a band that came to life when four friends, all
well-acquainted with the vibrant Guadalajara music scene, decided to join
forces to create the music they felt most connected to: Nu Metal. Leo and
Charley grew up immersed in the sounds of bands like Limp Bizkit, Korn, and
Linkin Park, which became a huge source of inspiration for what Pressive would
eventually evolve into. This shared passion for music and the influences they
carried helped shape the foundation of the band and their distinctive style.
There are two studio albums and a
new release coming. Musically we have a very modern sound that flirts between
New Metal and Industrial Rock and other influences. Tell us about the creative
process and a little about the history of the first two albums.
The creative process for Odium was truly a unique
experience. At the time, the band encountered an investor who was eager to promote
us in the UK and USA. This led us to move in together for an entire year to
focus on what would become Odium—a production that brought together all the
singles we had created up until that point. The album was well-received across
several online communities in Russia, Europe, and the USA, and it ultimately
became the defining character of our sound and identity as a band. For our
second album, Oxygen, we had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with two
top-tier producers, Waymon Boone and Jay Baumgardner. They were instrumental in
the production, mixing, and mastering of several tracks, and their input deeply
impacted us as musicians. It was a pivotal growth experience that pushed the
band’s sound to a new level.
You are from Mexico! Something
incredible, because the extreme scene is very strong out there. What is it like
to do something more alternative for the Mexican public?
Breaking through in the Mexican market has always been a
challenge. Regional music is deeply ingrained in the culture, and newer genres
often take center stage. However, once you carve out a space in the minds of
the Mexican audience, it’s a completely rewarding experience. Mexican fans are
among the most passionate in the world—they live and breathe music, and their
energy and loyalty make it all worthwhile.
In the most recent singles you switched from English to Spanish. Is there any specific reason for this?
A big part of switching from English to Spanish is
prioritizing our listeners in Mexico and across Latin America. We firmly
believe that music transcends all barriers, and language is no exception. By
embracing both languages, we can reach more ears and connect with a broader
audience. Moving forward, it’s an important part of our vision as a band to
write and collaborate with people from as many different languages and cultures
as possible, enriching our music and our journey.
In May, Pressive arrives in
Brazil for the first time, participating in Bangers Open Air. What are your
expectations?
You can expect the very best from us in these
performances—we’re bringing our all to the stage. For us, it’s an absolute
honor to be part of such amazing events, and knowing it’s our first time
visiting Brazil gives us even more motivation to deliver an unforgettable show.
We can’t wait to share this experience with the fans!
How did the invitation to join
this magnificent B.O.A cast come about?
The invitation to join the festival came through our
collaboration with Outono Music in Brazil. We’ve had the opportunity to work on
two releases with them, one of which was Hollow, a track featuring the Brazilian
band AXTY, who are doing incredibly well right now. It’s been an amazing
partnership, and thanks to their support, we’re now part of the incredible
Bangers Open Air lineup. We’re beyond excited to perform in Brazil for the
first time!
Just like me, you are also fans and will be playing on 05/03 (Sunday). Full of heavy and varied names. Which bands are you looking forward to seeing here in Brazil?
We’re thrilled to be part of a lineup filled with such
incredible bands, and we’re especially excited to see Sabaton, Avantasia,
Powerwolf, W.A.S.P., Kamelot, Lacrimosa, Sonata Arctica, I Prevail, We Came as
Romans, Knocked Loose, Ensiferum, and Burning Witches. It’s an honor to share
the stage with so many amazing acts, and we can’t wait to experience their
performances firsthand!
Does the new album already have a
release date? Will we have official band merchandising here in Brazil?
Our new record is set to be released in the summer of 2026,
and we’re really looking forward to sharing it with everyone. Additionally,
we’ll be bringing some merch to Brazil, so fans can grab something special at
the festival. We’re beyond excited to connect with the Brazilian audience and
make this an unforgettable experience!
I would like to thank you for the interview and I leave the final space to Pressive! See you soon!
We’d like to thank Outono Music and the Bangers Open Air
festival for giving us this incredible opportunity to be part of such a
fantastic event. We’re beyond excited to visit Brazil and can’t wait to share
our music with everyone there. Get ready for an unforgettable rock show—we’ll
see you soon!
